Honoring our heroes...

Troop 33607 was one of 12 Little Miami Girl Scout troops to participate in the 2008 Memorial Day parade through Morrow, Ohio. VFW Post 8202 was proud to report a record turnout for the event! Dozens of Boy Scouts also participated, as well as the Little Miami Marching Panther Band, and the Salem Township Police and Fire Department. Our troop was honored to be selected to have three girls throw two yellow carnations and one Memorial wreath over the Morrow bridge as two marines fired shots into the air to honor our fallen heroes. See more pictures in the Pulse Journal: http://www.pulsejournal.com/p/content/gen/sharedoh/photos_galleries/entertainment/holidays/052608morrowparade.html

Here we are cooling off after the parade, listening to members of VFW Post 8202 honor our local heroes at the Morrow Cemetery.

Many (including me) have expressed frustration at trying to keep up with all those patches that need to go on our Brownie's vest. Patch Attach is a product you can buy online that's like glue and will keep your patch in place. It's available online for $6.99:

A Heart for the Homeless...

Did you know a recent study shows there are about 400 homeless people in Warren County?

With this in mind, our troop spent one meeting learning about homelessness. We decorated paper grocery bags to take home and fill with donations for a homeless shelter. On May 5, we paid a visit to Bernie's place, a homeless shelter in South Lebanon that houses 14 men and women for up to 90 days, connecting them to County Services to help them get back on their feet and in their own permanent housing. The girls donated Kroger gift cards, canned goods, boxed items, etc. We also planted flowers that one of the girls donated while we were there. Each girl who participated earned "A Heart for the Homeless" patch. If you want to donate supplies or if your family or church group would like to cook a meal for the residents of the shelther, please call 513-494-2307. The director's name is Bonnie Attinger.
